QuipReply ("we", "the app") helps you write the next message in a conversation. To do that, it has to read the conversation you point it at. This page explains exactly what that means, in plain language, because "we take your privacy seriously" means nothing without the details.

Your name, email, phone number, contacts, location, photo library, browsing history, or the contents of any conversation you did not point the app at. There is no background capture, ever — the screen is only read at the moment you tap.
The floating bubble uses Android's MediaProjection API — the same mechanism as screen recording. Android requires your explicit consent, and shows a persistent indicator while a capture session is active. That is by design, and we would not want it any other way.
Concretely: a frame is captured only in the moment you tap the bubble. It is converted to a JPEG in memory, sent over an encrypted connection to be read, and the result comes back as three suggested replies. The image is not written to storage on your phone, is not written to disk on our server, and is not retained by us afterwards. We deliberately never built the ability to store it.
We do not use Android's Accessibility Service, which many similar apps use to read your screen continuously. We consider that an unacceptable level of access for this job.

We do not sell your personal information, and we never will.
Everything travels over TLS. Our backend runs on Google Cloud. The parts of the system that could have stored your conversations don't exist, which is the strongest security guarantee we can offer.
QuipReply is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
If this policy changes materially, we'll update this page and the "last updated" date. If a change ever meant we'd start storing your conversations, we would tell you loudly and ask first — but that's not a change we intend to make.
